Mrs. C. Kretschmer, Music, 5th and 6th Grade Band, Choir, Guitar

Mrs. Kretschmer received a Bachelor in Science/ Pre-Med degree from University of Nevada, Reno, her Teaching Certificate from Sierra Nevada College, Incline Village, Nevada, and her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Nevada, Reno.

In 18 years of teaching Mrs. Kretschmer has taught all subjects K-8, specializing in math and science for her first 7 years in Humboldt County Nevada, then switching to music for the last several years in Lyon County.

"Mrs. Kretschmer, what do you do in your spare time?" “What spare time?” she says. You will find her singing/playing guitar with friends/family, and she is a member of UNR symphonic choir from time to time.
She travels to see her daughter and twin grandsons in Philadelphia, or her other daughter in Homer, Alaska who is expecting second baby soon. The youngest daughter lives in Reno and is still figuring out what to do with her life. She recently bought a cello, so that’s a step in the right direction.
She is a member of the Sierra Nevada Orff-Schulwerk chapter and attends workshops 4 times per year to learn new fun stuff for her classroom.
She loves to read. A favorite book at the moment is The History of Almost Everything by Bill Bryson. All time favorites: Lord of the Rings, The Once and Future King and about a million others piled all over everywhere in the house. She also reads Scientific American and several music related periodicals.
She is a lifetime NRA member, loves to camp and hunt –especially when her party doesn’t shoot anything that has to be butchered.
She plants a big garden and then is glad when the frost comes…..so far deer have eaten all the left over pumpkins and are working on the spaghetti squash.
Her latest sewing project is fancy aprons for her girls for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It used to be party dresses, now it’s aprons…..what does that say?
She has been married almost 33 years to Ed. He’s an exploration geologist currently working for CalTrans in Oakland. It’s a long distance relationship for now, but hopefully not that much longer until he escapes from California.
